Powdercoating at Landscape Forms utilizes our exclusive Pangard II® Polyester Powdercoat System that's recognized for its industry-leading durability, color retention and resistance to wear. The Pangard II process is multi-step system of cleaning, priming and powdercoating that all comes together to produce the finest and most hardwearing metal finish available for site furniture.
To ensure an even and enduring finish, the process begins with rigorous preparation which can include brushing, grinding, filing or sandblasting welded parts to remove carbon and prepare the metal for cleaning and pretreatment. The products are cleaned using a heated wash to degrease and remove surface oils before a zinc phosphate pre-treatment is applied. Unlike many other manufacturers that use an iron phosphate or sandblasting pre-treatment on metal products, we choose zinc phosphate for its superior durability compared to the former two methods. The sacrificial zinc gives the treated metal self-healing properties which, even under heavy abuse and prolonged expose to the elements, helps prevent corrosion creep should a product become scraped down to the metal.
Landscape Forms' exclusive Panguard II® Polyester Powdercoat System is a multi-step system of cleaning, priming and powdercoating.
After pre-treatment, an epoxy undercoat (e-coat) is applied to provide strong cohesion to the zinc substrate pre-treatment and act as a moisture barrier between the substrate and the final finish. Following one last cleaning, the products are then ready for powdercoating. Two coats of a primer powdercoat are first applied, with oven curing after each application. The topcoat is then applied over the primer and parts are again cured in an oven to cross-link the coating and fuse it to the primer coat. This topcoat adds depth and texture to the finish while providing strong color protection.
Across all our manufacturing process and especially in our powdercoat application, we're proud to use the most technologically advanced and environmentally sustainable equipment available. The application equipment on our paint lines provides complete coverage even in hard-to-reach areas, offers leading uniformity of thickness, and contributes improved charging of powder particles to achieve optimal transfer efficiency and limit waste. Every stage of our powdercoat process is lead free, hazardous air pollutant (HAPS) free, does not generate hazardous waste, and contains less than 1% Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC's). Once processed, these trace VOCs are fully inert and therefore cause no emission into the environment. The result of this meticulous process is beautiful, impact-, light-, weather- and corrosion-resistant furniture that is sustainably crafted, exceptionally durable, and prepared for many years of active use with minimal maintenance.
