A self-described "huge nerd about the natural world," Jarvis pursued landscape architecture as a way to meld her personal passions for human-landscape relations, drawing, and spacial problem solving into one field of study.

The scholarship was initially established as the Landscape Forms Design for People Scholarship, awarding exceptional landscape architecture students between 2007 and 2017. In 2018, the scholarship was relaunched and renamed as the Landscape Forms Scholarship in Memory of Peter Lindsay Schaudt, FASLA. Peter Schaudt shared Landscape Forms passion for thoughtfully designed, people-focused landscape architecture, so the scholarship was a natural fit to commemorate Schaudt's esteemed 30-year career as a landscape architect and ambassador for the profession.

A leader and visionary in the field, Peter Schaudt was one of the founding principals of the award-winning firm, Hoerr Schaudt Landscape Architecture in Chicago and a dedicated member of the Board of Directors for Landscape Forms. Widely admired for his incredible talent, generosity and integrity, Peter Schaudt was distinguished by his focus on the "art of design," professional stewardship and social responsibility. Schaudt's legacy lives on in part through the Landscape Forms scholarship, which represents a shared commitment to growing the profession and investing in the next generation of landscape architects.

The Landscape Forms Scholarship in Memory of Peter Lindsay Schaudt, FASLA is open to landscape architecture students in their final two years of full-time undergraduate study in a LAAB or CSLA accredited program in the U.S. or Canada.

"The ethos of Landscape Forms shines through in everything they do-and the scholarship is no exception," says Heather Whitlow, Director of Programs & Communications at LAF. "The Landscape Architecture Foundation's mission is to increase the capacity, influence, and impact of landscape architects in order to create a more just, sustainable and resilient future, and we see Landscape Forms as an important ally in helping to achieve this goal."

In addition to its scholarship, Landscape Forms actively collaborates with LAF on a number of other programs and initiatives. Xtreme LA (Extreme Landscape Architecture) is an annual co-sponsored, Landscape Forms-funded design charrette that brings together young landscape architects under the mentorship of professional team leaders to address landscape, community and environmental issues in challenged locations. Landscape Forms also continues its 5-year pledge program in ongoing support of LAF's operating budget, in addition to a contribution to 50 & Forward, the campaign marking the 50th anniversary of the Landscape Architecture Foundation in 2016.

"The LAF has long been committed to research, scholarship and leadership in our industry. That's what attracts me to it-an organization grounded on those principals. We're honored to be part of the great group of professionals who support its great work," former Landscape Forms President and current LAF Board Member, Richard Heriford explains.

Moving forward, Landscape Forms will continue to actively support the LAF with time and resources to ensure its longevity. "I deeply believe in the profound impact landscape architects can have on the environment, and society's connection to it. Our support of the LAF and its scholarship programs is an investment in the future of the profession, and its impact on the world we live in," says Landscape Forms CEO, Marjorie Simmons.
